So much about the life, the culture and the mindset of Venice is a world apart from America and every other place. From the beauty and magic that you instantly see and feel when you arrive here to the everyday realities, problems, economic, environmental, architectural and cultural challenges that are hidden from ‘casual’ view, our walk is about understanding who these Venetians are and what is the destiny of their Island paradise.
Can Venice, her beautiful bricks, her unique songs, her insular charm, her fragile facades, her sparkling fresh and simple cuisine, her gentle culture survive the intrusion of the 21st century global village?
WHAT IS INCLUDED

our morning walk and talk begin at 10:00 am at a local, residential Vaporetto stop on the line #1. Easy!

around noontime, we will make stops along a residential market street where we buy the ingredients for the dish you have chosen from the lunch menu which we will make together or an easy picnic spread of Venetian treats. You will meet, hopefully, Massimo on the fruit and vegetable boat, Gabriele at the ham and cheese store, Steffi and Vicki at the wine store, Mario the great baker……

lunchtime will be at my home, sitting by the windows overlooking the wide open waterway: Rio San Pietro.

after lunch, there will be time to walk back towards the city center with more storytelling and sights to see along the way. Our time together should be about 4-5 hours.
Special note: If you love taking photos we will also talk along the way about great angles and possibilities for your photo memories of Venice and her people.
Samantha Durell has been a permanent resident of her beloved City for 30 years and lives in a waterfront apartment watching her neighbors and Venice life as it passes by under her windows.
